Our History

First State Federal Credit Union was organized by a group of International Playtex
employees interested in creating a place where they and fellow employees could
save and borrow money safely, confidentially, and at fair rates of interest. 
A federal charter was granted in March 1972, by the National Credit Union Administration.  Today, the credit union has a multi-occupational membership
servicing over 3000 members.  As a member, you receive all the personal attention
and service you expect from your financial institution.  After all, it's your credit union.

The Credit Union Difference

Credit Unions are America's only member-owned financial cooperatives—and that
makes a big difference.  It's a difference members see when profits are returned to
them through competitive products and services, including higher interest on savings
and lower interest on loans. It is the credit union philosophy of "People Helping
People" that helped form credit unions over 140 years ago.  Today, there are over
12,000 credit unions throughout the U.S., backed by the financial stability of more
than 70 million members and a sound national deposit insurance fund.

Membership Eligibility

Community Charter is granted! 
In August, 2002, First State Federal Credit Union was granted a Community Charter for Kent County, Delaware. The community charter was requested by the Board of Directors of FSFCU and granted by our governing agency, the National Credit Union Administration.

Who Can Join?
Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Kent County, Delaware, and any member of their family.

The following employees groups have membership in FSFCU and offer credit union membership as an employee benefit, complete with payroll deduction.
